Miracle Mabry { Newborn }

I had the honor to photograph this little miracle and her sweet family last year. Below is Mabry's amazing story written by her parents.

Our little one entered the world in a less than conventional way. The umbilical cord prolapsed while Josh and I were at home. My water broke and a caught about 4 inches of the cord in my hand - felt her heartbeat through it and it was by far the scariest experience of our lives. EMS made it to our house in 5 minutes and when we got to the hospital it was door to baby in less than 7 minutes. What we found out later was the amazing part. Dr. Russell, our OB beat us to the hospital and there was a woman who had been pushing the latter part of Wednesday Aug 17th and they decided to schedule a c section for her that night. B/c of that there were 3 anesthesiologists there at the hospital after 11 that night. Also, Mabry's pediatrician that we chose 2 days prior was called to this woman to check her baby after her c section. Dr. Makres, who has been practicing for over 31 years has never carried his pager when he has been called out to the hospital b/c he lives so close to the hospital. Needless to say he carried it that night and as he was walking to his car he received a page from Dr. Russell saying that he was needed. Mabry's apgar scores were 0 3 and 3. They determined that she had been without oxygen for approx 6 minutes. She was not expected to live through transport to UT Medical Center NICU but they were the closest hospital with the cooling bed rehab she needed. She spent 8 days at that NICU and Josh and I left Bristol that Friday to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. We then stayed at the Niswonger Children's Hospital NICU for 9 days. She's been on a vent, chest tube, dialysis cath, foley cath, PICC line, TPN, lipids, antibiotics, versed, morphine, and antiseizure medication. Currently she has normal kidneys, liver, off vent and breathing without any O2 support, urine and poopers output is right on track and she's breastfeeding. She hasn't had the first seizure and her MRI was normal. Josh and I petitioned our church family to pray early on and know that without the fervent prayers from the body of Christ our little girl would not be with us today. We have prayed and asked others to pray specifically for items concerning her health and have seen those issues resolved by the next day. We truly have a miracle child and are so thankful for all God is doing in her life.

This young girl has an amazing voice and is very talented! We had a lot of fun on this shoot that started and then ended a little later at The Paramount on State Street in Bristol. I love her classic look which could go from modern to vintage with no problem at all.

Lori King McClellan { Bridals }

I always absolutely love doing bridal sessions with my clients, but this one was extra fun to do. We loaded up the vehicle and headed to Atkins VA where this shoot was located. Although there were clouds hovering overhead it was not raining when we arrived. We began the photo shoot with her beautiful horse, Galena and I think we may have ended up with about 10 shots or maybe a few more when the rain started. It was a mad dash to get Lori into the back of a mini van with the hatched raised & everyone was holding umbrellas over her to protect her from the rain. A few of us ended up looking like drowned rats by the time the rain stopped. lol! But once the skies cleared we had a blast dashing from spot to spot doing her portraits. There were so many options that it was almost overwhelming! By the end of the day we came away with what we felt were some amazing images.

This was a sweet wedding held in the beautiful Hungry Mother State Park. It was raining when we first arrived and we weren't sure they would be able to hold the outside. I think some of my most favorite sessions take place out in the countryside. But when you have a location as fabulous as this one, the possibilities are just about endless! The farm was just beautiful and had some really cool structures that I just fell in love with. It seemed like everywhere we went there was another interesting or beautiful place we could use. On top of that, Jessica & Alex were just super to work with and very easy to photograph. We ended up with some stunning images and even some that I know will end up being my all time favorites.

Here is just a small sampling from their engagement session. There were just too many to choose from.

Another favorite of mine. No need to see eyes on this.. love the smile, gentle caress, and the ring! :)

I loved this spot.. We ended up with about three completely fabulous images from here.

They even have a pet cow.. now how cool is that?? I wanted to take this little baby home with me! It even plays with the dogs and sleeps on the mat on the front porch. LOVE!

We set this shoot up at the Train Station and actually had a train come through which we were not expecting at the time. Since we were all the way on the other side, behind the building, and we really wanted the train in the at least a few images, we had to sprint. It was a little funny since she was trying to run in high heels and me with my camera bag & equipment. But we had a good laugh of it and we also got a few really great images with the train as well. I really don't think this young lady can take a bad photograph. These are just a few of my favorites.

Hello all! It has been a little while since I last updated the blog so I am pretty behind here. Instead of posting each of the sessions we have done since the last posting, we will only update with a few of them instead.

This session was special because her father is serving in the military overseas and was away when she was born. Their story touched my heart and it was an honor to be able to photograph this precious little girl. Here are some highlights from their session earlier this year.

Jennifer & Charlie { Wedding }

I had the privilege of photographing this couple's wedding in December. We met for a consultation which is so very important! But then I got to know Jennifer even better at her bridal shoot at the gorgeous Chateau Selah. We had a great time shooting the bridals and came away with some amazing images. She said she could have done that all day. lol! =)
She is such a fun, sweet, classy lady. The beautiful & very touching ceremony took place at the Blountville Presbyterian Church and the reception was held at the Chateau, which was elegantly decorated with classic style. There was so much laughter that night, and even some happy tears. It was an honor to be a part of this most special occasion and capture some of the emotions of the day. Fall is in the air!

I just love this time of year! The wonderful smells in the crisp cool air, the beautiful colors painted on the trees, and pumpkins. There is just something about pumpkins I just love!

We are now taking appointments for the rest of our full photo sessions for fall. These sessions last about 1 - 1 1/2 hours and make great images for family Christmas cards. We have some awesome new cards for this year that will make yours stand out from the rest! We have limited openings for weekends, but we do have some weekdays open. We did this little session for Hank down on Boone lake. He was a rescue dog and has been selected as one of the canines to be on a Collie Rescue Calendar. He hammed it up for us and worked the camera, but then wanted to wrap things up. It's hard being a star! lol! = )

Love is in the air

Wow! This was such a fun couple to do a shoot with! I loved every minute of it! With this one, we had to reschedule the first date due to snow ...I know, it's hard to even think of snow now with as hot as it has been lately! But we even nearly had to reschedule this time around due to an incoming storm. And, I had to change our plans up quiet a bit for the entire shoot, but it ended up working out really well.
I don't think I have ever laughed that hard at a session before. We even had a census counter come out while we were in the middle of the cow pasture. lol! Then, we ended the session just as the huge storm rolled across the top of the mountain. I got to the truck just as it started pouring. Now that's timing! =]

Family Love

A Lovely Day in May Bridal Shoot

This young lady had to be one of the happiest little brides I have been around in a long time. Her excitement and joy simply radiated from her! Although we all had a really good time laughing and cutting up, extra care was taken to assure the dress wouldn't be soiled. I can't say that my clothes weren't a little dirty by the end of the day since I was laying on the ground shooting on more than one occasion. lol!
But this is just a tiny sampling of what we came away with from her shoot.

We had to reschedule this shoot once due to bad weather and nearly had to cancel again. We ended up deciding to try and go ahead with the session anyway and I am glad we did. A Snowy Downtown Family Session

At this session, not only did we have an attractive family to work with, but we also had a beautiful blanket of snow that had fallen a few days before. Downtown was bitterly cold that day, and we tried to stay as warm & dry as possible. These family members were real troopers and we came away with some really great shots. Christmas Pet Portraits This Weekend!

Thanksgiving

I just wanted to take a moment before all the baking & cooking of food begins, and gathering of friends & family, to wish everyone a happy day today. We are truly blessed in this country to have the ability to do the things we do and to be able to celebrate things freely. I am thankful for those who served for our nation to give us the freedoms that we have today. I am also thankful for all of my family and friends that God has placed in my life. We all should have something to be thankful for, even in the darkest moments there can be blessings. Every day should be a "thanks giving" day. =]

An Afternoon at the Park

A Country Setting for a Fall Session - October 24th

What a perfect day and setting for this photo session! We trekked out to one of our locations which is way out in the country. We had to a good bit of walking, but it was worth it! The trees were absolutely gorgeous and the view from the top of the hill was wonderful. This family was a delight to photograph and they were so much fun! A Session with Austin and Friends - Oct. 19, 2009

This is a session that we had to postpone several different times due to the weather. But I am SO glad we did! The farm was absolutely beautiful that day and the weather was perfect. It did get pretty chilly a little later on, but it was well worth it! This session was done with two of his horses and you could tell that they love their daddy! Austin's girlfriend Jillian and her horse got in on the fun and even his sister did a few as well. Which, they all turned out really cute. There were SO many awesome ones that I really had a very tough time this time around narrowing them down for the blog.

Nicar/ Schrenker Downtown Session Oct 16th

Talk about chilly! We were a bunch of popsicles by the time we were through with this one! But the girls braved the weather and did great! They were wonderful to work with and were completely natural in front of the camera. Their mother also got in for a few of the pics and she is just as photogenic as they are. October Fox Hollow Horse Show

As most of you know, I photographed many horse shows over the years. Although I do not work nearly as many shows now, horses are a part of my past, present, and future. In turn, I was unable to attend many of the Fox Hollow shows this year. But I did make it to the one on Saturday in October. This is the style of riding that I trained in for many years before starting in Dressage.

Mini Session with Roxie

Fall Photo Sessions

I honestly can not believe that it is almost fall again! This summer has really flown by. But fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! The crisp cool air, the amazing blue sky and the mixture of brilliant colors in the landscape. I love how the leaves crunch underfoot as you take in all the wondrous beauty around you. Not to mention all the tantalizing smells in the air. To me it is an extraordinary time of the year!

Fall is also a perfect time to do your family photos, especially with Christmas right around the corner. Our clients frequently give our photographs & custom items as cherished gifts for their family members.

You may even want to consider doing a session with your family pet, or horse! We are currently scheduling for fall and if you are interested in having us do a session for you, just let us know. =]

August 8th Senior Photo Shoot

It's funny how we had completely different plans for this photo shoot and it turned out to be better than what we had planned. We were supposed to head downtown and meet at the Trainstation but it looked like they were having a wedding there. So,we quickly thought of some different spots that might be fun to use instead. Even though I had equipment malfunctions later in the shoot, this turned out to be a really great session and such a fun day. There were so many awesome shots of her that I had a very hard time culling any at all. Here are just a few from her photo session.

Hey everyone! For the past two years I have felt the need to make some changes. This year has been full of changes; some good, and some not so good. Along with a name change and new logo, (from Andalusian Impressions to Deana Fleenor Photography) I finally also have a brand new web & blog site.
